International Student Ministry

Dear Friends,

Everyone is probably aware that UH Manoa started classes this week (the increased traffic has been a big give away!)... this also means that we have started our first week of activities here at International Ministries.  Yes, we've already picked up over 55 new international students from the airport and started some great relationships through that.  And yes, we already had our first ESL classes (yesterday), with over 20 new and returning students.  And another big YES, we will be having our luncheon tomorrow (expecting a starting group of about 120-130 students)!  In addition, we'll also host Global Cafe Thursday night, and Bible studies and a dinner Friday night.

We are excited for all these different ways we have to connect with international students and share the love and Truth of Jesus Christ with them.  We are also extremely grateful for all of you who volunteer your time, skills, finances, and prayer support to help us reach out to the nations right here in Hawaii.

I'd like to ask for your continued support as we get the semester going and look to God to reveal Himself to many, many students.  Please pray for those we've met recently... including a PhD student from Iran who is extremely open to learning about Jesus.  Ask that these internationals would open their hearts to Jesus and that we would have abundant opportunities to communicate His message to them.

This semester we will basically be continuing the same activities as last year, with a different twist on Thursday nights.  We'll also be adding a 12-12 prayer room at the Centre.  We continue to aim to use these activities as "stepping stones" in building relationships and sharing Jesus with internationals.  If you have any questions about what to expect this semester, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you again for helping us minister to the world in Hawaii.

 Grateful,

Carlye Lawrence
